The “Generator” state-run company was established in 1959 and was initially a division of the First Head Department of the Ministry of Electronic Industry of the USSR. The main scope of operation of the said division was manufacture of electric vacuum and semiconductor devices of the UHF waveband designated for operation as part of various radars, onboard equipment of aircraft and marine vessels, surface-to-air missile systems, communicational equipment, and measurement instruments of the UHF range.

Nowadays, the “Generator” is one of the most promising instrument-making enterprises of the national mechanical engineering industry and is structurally subordinate to the Ministry of Industrial Policy of Ukraine. Also part of the company is the “Spectrum” special-purpose design bureau, which is tasked with the elaboration of all kinds of UHF electric vacuum and semiconductor devices.

At the times of the transition to a wider manufacture of consumer products, the company also started manufacturing a number of brand-new products, such as:

- G6; G4; G2,5; G 1,6   household gas counters of membrane type;

- Vacuum arc chutes and vacuum circuit breakers intended for switching equipment, all of the said devices being based on the arc chutes of the company’s own design and manufacture;

- Development of microwave technologies and equipment intended for agricultural sector and food industry;

- Gas welding equipment

Since 2000, the company performs the upgrading and overhauling of surface-to-air missile systems, such as OSA, STRELA-10M, BUK, KUB, TOR and others. In accordance with the relevant order by the Ministry of Industrial Policy, the company was appointed as the main facility performing such operations nationwide.
